Hearts and Hands Together for Gaza
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
In our ongoing efforts to provide relief and share the experiences of our community in Gaza, we bring you heart-wrenching news and updates on our work. Our work in these trying times is only possible through your prayers and support.
In Loving Memory of Lara Gergis Khalil Al-Sayegh
It is with profound sadness that we share the story of Lara Gergis Khalil Al-Sayegh, a young Christian woman whose life was tragically cut short by the relentless conflict in Gaza. Lara wanted nothing more than to escape the devastation that had become her daily reality. After her home was destroyed by bombings, she sought refuge in a church shelter for seven months, dreaming of a new life in Egypt, away from the perils of war.
Her brother, who suffered from a kidney condition, had previously moved to Egypt for treatment, fueling her hopes of reuniting with him. However, fate had a different plan. On the day she finally left the church, filled with a bittersweet joy at her departure, Lara succumbed to sunstroke while navigating the perilous route from the Olive neighborhood to Rafah. She was only 19 years old. Her mother, severely affected by the ordeal had fainted. Please keep Lara's family in your prayers.
Lara's final resting place will be in Zawaideh, as the division of the Gaza Strip prevents us from bringing her body back to the church. This separation deepens our grief, as those who leave cannot return. We mourn the loss of a young soul and pray for her peace.
Despite the sorrow that envelops us, our mission continues to serve those in need.
Water Project in Deir Balah: We have successfully implemented a project to provide clean water, which is crucial for daily survival.
We continue our bread distribution regularly in the middle of Gaza
We are also currently assisting 260 Christian families within the churches, providing each with 400 shekels (~$105 USD) to help meet their basic needs. We continue to serve hot meals, distribute summer clothing, and support the needs of families, including food, medicine, and other necessities.
Recognizing the challenges faced by those who have fled to Egypt, we extend our support through financial aid and resources to those we can to ensure they are not alone in this transition.
The plight of our brothers and sisters in Gaza calls for continued solidarity and support. We ask for your prayers and your donations to sustain our efforts in these harsh conditions. Each contribution brings a glimmer of hope and a tangible difference in the lives of many. We are grateful for your unwavering support.
I always enjoy hearing from you and reading your words of encouragement. May God bless you abundantly for your kindness and compassion towards our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
With gratitude and prayers,
Pastor Hanna Massad
